Cross River Industrialization Drive: State Govt., UN Agree On Sustainable Policy Framework



The multiple industries established by the Cross River State government under Governor Ben Ayade has received attention of the United Nations Development Organization (UNIDO),especially it's spread across the eighteen local government areas aimed at providing employment for youths and reducing poverty in the state 


This was part of the UN Agency representative's  remark when the team led by the UNIDO Representative in Nigeria, Mr *Jean Bakole* in the company of the Commissioner for MIDC,  *Inyang Asibong*, visited Governor Ben Ayade with a promise to support Cross River State Government policies on Economic and Industrial development.


Following this, the State Government, through the Ministry of International Development Cooperation (MIDC), with the support of UNIDO, set out to develop a policy framework to guide all Cross River State Industrial projects.


During the policy validation workshop, Asibong  explained, that the Cross River State /UNIDO collaboration will  help develop a comprehensive document with global strategic actions and activities aimed at bringing structural and industrial transformation the state. 


On his part,the Commissioner for Industries, *Hon Peter Egba*, said Cross River State is driving an inclusive and sustainable industrial hub, through a  policy framework that will outlive the regime. 


Earlier in his remarks,the UNIDO Representative, Dr Reuben Bamidele said that the UN Agency  is fully committed to deliver on its mandate to support member states in which Cross River State stands tall based on developed policy in achieving inclusive and sustainable industrial development. 




Thr Cross River State Industrial Policy (CRSIP) presentations were done by Prof Obafemi and Dr Felix Eke.


Present at the event were, Chief Majorie Asuquo, Special Adviser, EDF; Ken Asim Itah, Executive Secretary, CACCIMA ; Mr Udiba Udiba, DG BPPP; Mrs Kate Ajibike, Special Adviser, CED; Sir John Odo, DG CRGIA; Mr Victor Edet,  Special Adviser ID and I; Barr Tutu Ekeng, DG CRIBP; Permanent Secretaries from the State's MIDC and Ministry of Finance, Directors from relevant line Ministries amongst others.
