DPR, NSCDC Seeks Stronger Collaboration In Securing Oil Facilities In Cross River.


In continuation of his familiarization tour to key security formations in the state, the new Calabar field operations controller, Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR Mr. George Ene-Ita has visited the state commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Majekodunmi Abidemi in his office in Calabar the Cross River State capital. 


Mr. Ene-Ita who was accompanied by some senior staff of the department, acknowledged the excellent working relationship that has existed between DPR and the civil defence and pleaded for more cooperation in that regard. 


He appreciated the exceptional qualities of the commandant, while maintaining that with his professional capacity and experience the mutual relationship between both agencies of government will be further strengthened. 


Mr. Ene-Ita who regreted the unfortunate incident that took place at their Calabar office during the #EndSars Protest were hoodlums vandalized the office and carted away several items, solicited for more men from the Corp to help curb future occurrence. 


 In his response, the state commandant Majekodunmi Abidemi who stressed that the act that sets up the NSCDC clearly mandates it to protect the nation's economic infrastructure against sabotage, maintained that with oil and gas facilities being a major part of it, the Corp was determined to cooperate with relevant government agencies like DPR to actualise that mandate. "I want to assure you that we will work with you to make your work easy" he said. 


It would be recalled that the Calabar field operations controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ene-Ita had earlier led top management staff of his Calabar office on a courtesy visit to the commissioner of police, Cross River State Police command, CP Sikuru Akande in furtherance of his commitment to strengthen the relationship with the command and the DPR.
