Pragmatic leaders have celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Nko people in Yakurr LGA of Cross River State.
According to the DG of the group Lizzy Uguru, the event was one of their "various programs aimed at promoting peace across the state as well as showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state and Nko people in particular"
She encouraged Cross Riverians to embrace the ideals of the group which is geared towards human development. Maintaining the need for youths in the area and other communities to shun violence and other social vices that is capable of destroying the values of the society.
The event featured display of several cultural dances and a display of numerous delicacies of the Nko people, some of which have long been forgotten.
Papers were also delivered by prominent indigenes of Nko on important topics including the origin of the people. In attendance were eminent sons and daughters from the area including the former Niger Delta minister affairs, Usani Usani, Obol Opon of Nko, HRH Obol Effifiom Ayomobi among others.
In his speech, former minister of Niger Delta affair, Usani Usani eulogized the organisers "for putting up such wonderful event to revive some of the lost cultural richness of the people, including some of the delicacies they have forgotten about
"Some of the food you see there are purely organic, which is very healthy for the body. Some of them he younger generation have never seen before, but event like this have brought back those meals with it's nutritional value to the new generation in other for it to be valued, so I commend them
"At this point in time of our national life, what everyone should be preaching should be the need for peace, harmony and unity amongst our people. Peace is very important for any community to move forward"
Pragmatic leaders is a group of people determined to promote peace and harmonious coexistence among Cross Riverians as well enthrone credible leadership across political party lines. It has its leadership spread across the 18 LGAs and political wards in the state.
