Chairman of Ikom local government area, Hon Kingsley Namgbe Egumi, calls on all residents in the LGA to be security conscious and maintain law and order.



In line with the directive of Governor Ben Ayade on security across the state, the chairman of Ikom local government area, Hon Kingsley Namgbe Egumi, has called on all residents in the LGA, to be security conscious and maintain law and order.


In the same vein, he charge the residents to desist from practices capable of destroying and depleting the forest reserve.


Egumi made this assertion at a  one day stakeholders consultative security council meeting, with security Chiefs and Traditional Rulers, in Ikom LGA,.



According to the Executive Chairman, the essence of the meeting was to brief the traditional institution in Ikom LGA of the directives issued by His Excellency,Prof. Ben Ayade,on anti--deforestation policy, and the ban on logging and timber exploitation of the forest,as well as the security challenges posed by Okada riders.



To this end,a nine point communique was issued at the end of the meeting.



1:  The Establishment of  a taskforce of all security outfits in Ikom, on anti--deforestation, and curb the security challenges posed by Okada riders.

2: That Motorcycle riders in Ikom LGA should only operate between 5:30am to 10:pm daily.

3:- That All Village heads are to Collate the data of all stranger element in their various communities for onward transmission to Ikom Local Government Council for documentation.

4:- That All stranger element residing in Ikom and it's environs must identify with their various ethnic groups or unions.

A total band on all logging and timber activities in Ikom Local Government Area with immediate effect.

6:- A two weeks grace period from 18th May to 31st may 2021, be issued.

That any logging activities for private use must obtain clearance from Ikom Local Government Council.

That Ikom Local Government Council should Establishment the    Home Land Security outfits in our communities to maintain law and order.
