Anambra Poll: INEC Omits Soludo, PDP From Candidates’ List

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been omitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the candidates' list for the Anambra governorship poll.

The list for the November 6th poll was released officially by Nigeria electoral body on Friday.

Meanwhile, Chukwuma Umeoji, a member of the house of representatives from another APGA faction was on the list.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, pegged his decision on the rulings and court orders served on the commission over APGA’s primary and other processes that led to the election.

A preview of the list also showed that the electoral body skipped the country’ main opposition party.

“The Commission also considered and took cognizance of the Judgments/Court Orders served on it concerning the primaries of the political parties and other processes leading to the election,” Okoye explained.

“In line with section 31(3) of the Electoral Act, 2010(as amended) the personal particulars of the candidates will be published in the Commissions Notice Board in Awka, Anambra State while the names of the candidates, their gender, party, age, qualification and the Commissions decision/ remarks are herein attached.”
