The conditional electronic transmission of electoral results has been approved by the Nigerian Senate.
Over the section 52(3) of the electoral act amendment bill, which deals with electronic transmission of polls, Senators voted publicly on Thursday along party lines.
After the voting, 52 Senators with majority from APC voted for the amendment as proposed by Senator Abdulahi while 28 Senators with majority from PDP voted for the original amendment in the report.
This implies that majority of the Senators voted that INEC may put the electronic transmission into consideration provided the national network coverage is adjudged to be adequate and secure by NCC and approved by the National Assembly.
More details shortly.
