BREAKING: Travelers Along Calabar River Kidnapped By Suspected Sea Pirates

A fully loaded speedboat has been diverted by some criminals suspected to be sea pirates to an unknown destination along the Calabar river.

According to The Parchment, the boat which departed the Marina Safe Journey harbour, fully loaded with passenger in the morning was heading to Oron in Akwa Ibom State.

A reliable source told the Parchment that “the boat did not leave the Calabar river when the pirates ordered them to divert. We suspect that they have been taken to the creeks as we speak” 

Source also added that among the passengers is a naval rating.

“we have been calling the drivers phone number since morning. It is ringing but there is no response”

At the time of filing this report, source learnt that the kidnappers are yet to establish contact with families of the victims.

Meanwhile, about five naval gun boats is reportedly patrolling the waters in search of the victims and possible rescue.

One of the victims son in-law who pleaded anonymity, said that he has been trying to reach his mother in-law since morning when the boat left Calabar without success. “We are worried. We hope that they will be rescued alive and well” he said.
