The senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District and chairman Senate committee on FERMA, Sen. Gershom Bassey in partnership with PETROK ENGINEERING SERVICES, has again embarked on another phase of training to enhance human capacity development. The two days programme entailed training of 50 (fifty) Cross Riverians encompassing both the youths and women, on the installation and maintenance of solar street lights and inverters.
It could be recalled that the first phase was the training of over a hundred (100) youths and women from the Cross River South Senatorial district, who were empowered with tools to start up and were also given the sum of a hundred thousand naira each .
The Senator who was represented by the Director-General Of Gershom Bassey Campaign Organization, Hon. Ekpo Ada emphasised the importance of the training, urged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity presented to them, as it was aimed at enhancing productivity among youths and women in all the Local Governments of the state. Worthy of note was the fact that every Local Government was represented by at least two people.
The Senator assured Cross Riverians of more empowerment programs that will create enabling environments for the employment of unemployed and disadvantaged women and youths in order for them to achieve a better life.

At the end of the training, certificates were obtained and participants were also encouraged with start-up monies and tools. It is believed that with the equipment and tools distributed to the beneficiaries, they are on a sure path of getting self-employed and being self-reliant.
