2023 Workers Day: Sen. Gershom Bassey Salutes CRS Workers, Promises Better Days Ahead

Sen. Gershom Bassey

The Senator Representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District and frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP, Sen. Gershom Bassey has expressed his profound best wishes for the new month of May to Cross Riverians and indeed all Nigerians.

Sen. Bassey in his happy new month message used the opportunity to wish all workers in the Cross River State Civil Service a wonderful and happy Workers Day Celebration. He said this auspicious day is set aside for the workers to celebrate their resilience, dedication, hardwork, commitment and faithful selfless service to their fatherland. He expressed his profound thanks to the workers of Cross River State for their resilient and dedicated service to the state even in the face of bastardised conditions of service. He further appreciated the workers as the engine room of Government that drives the Socio-economic development of our dear State.

Sen. Gershom Bassey appealed to the workers to remain steadfast in their jobs not minding the rot in the service occasioned by the bad leadership of the APC led government. He assured workers that when he becomes Governor he shall totally overhaul and revitalise the Cross River State Civil Service by institutionalising the Civil Service rules. He said Cross River State workers deserve better welfare, remuneration and conditions of service. The Distinguished Senator decried the plight of workers in the state especially the Pensioners and promised the domestication of PENSIONS acts in the legislature to curb irregularities. He said under his watch as Governor, the Civil Service will attain enviable heights and every worker will be proud to belong to the service.

Sen. Gershom Bassey told Cross Riverians that this particular month of May is very significant in our democratic history as a State and indeed a Nation. It's importance is underscored by the fact that, following INEC's timetable, all parties will be holding primaries to choose the next generation of leaders to pilot our affairs for the next four years and beyond. "Therefore, we all must put our State and country in prayers so that this month births good leadership for our state and Nation. We must take into cognizance competence, experience, capacity, equity, justice and selflessness in our choices.", he said.

Sen. Gershom Bassey prayed that this May will be fair to Cross Riverians individually and collectively as a people with a common heritage. He wishes all citizens of Cross River State and Nigeria a happy and prosperous new month.
