CLIMS SHOW 2022: Solving The Problem of Climate Change And Global Warming

The clims show is a yearly students’ climate change conference held in the city of Uyo Akwa Ibom State. The show brings young people from various backgrounds together to learn, take action and make a commitment to solving the problem of climate change and global warming. 


CLIMS SHOW 2022 is the third edition of the conference convened by Ubong Usoro a student of the University of Uyo and supported by the Biodiversity preservation center ( BPC), and Citizens Climate International (CCI). 


The CLIMS SHOW 3.0 was a three-day event with various programmes aimed at raising the awareness and consciousness of the general public and passing the climate message.


DAY 1: 27TH APRIL, 2022 CLEANUP EXERCISE


Members of the CLIMS SHOW 2022 team partnered with the biodiversity preservation center to clean up the Akwa Ibom State, House of Assembly complex. Members came out early to pick up plastic, pack refuge and dispose of waste properly. Volunteers spent more than 6 hours cleaning the place to the admiration of passersby, who commend us for the work well done we had more than 25 persons joining us for the cleanup exercise.


DAY 2: TREE PLANTING


The second day of the CLIMS SHOW 2022 saw volunteers meet at Obio Ekong Street in Itu LGA to carry out a tree planting exercise to advocate the importance of trees in fighting the climate change crisis. We were joined for the exercise by the CEO of SUPER PHONES LTD. Mr. Richmond planted some trees himself and reiterated the importance of the tree in solving global warming and climate change. The trees were provided by Prof. Edem Eniang who was also on the ground to support the activity.


DAY 3: CLIMS SHOW CONFERENCE


The main event of CLIMS SHOW 2022 was the conference held on the 29th of April, 2022. At the Food Affairs Conference Hall, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo.


The event had in attendance dignitaries like the Hon Commissioner for Environment, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Charles Udoh ably represented by a staff of the Ministry of Environment, Prof Ekanem Ekenem, Prof. Edem Enang who took time to deliver well-researched keynote and called the young people to take action. 


Others present at the occasion included the host Minister of the Church of Christ, Ikot Monde Itam, Min Kufre Ekpo, more than 50 young people attended the main event from different departments, villages and states. CLIMS SHOW 2022 was a huge success!
