Sandy Onor Sighted At Former Governor Liyel Imoke’s Residence After Presidential Rally In Calabar

Sen. Sandy Onor

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State, Sen. Sandy Onor was late yesterday sighted at the residence of a former governor of the state, Sen. Liyel Imoke.

Our eagle-eyed reporter who saw Sen. Sandy Onor, reported that the PDP guber candidate visited the former governor on Monday after the visit of the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for a rally.

“Yes, he came here after everything. He came to beg Oga (Imoke) to support him” a close source within the former governor’s political dynasty confided in our reporter.

Sandy Onor was reported to have knelt and pleaded with Sen. Imoke to forgive him and support his ambition, as failure to do that will spell doom for the party in the state.

He was also reported to have accused the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike for being behind his none attendance at the rally, promising to continue to secretly give his unalloyed support to the presidential campaign team in the state in return he solicited support from the faction of Atiku's loyalists led by him Sen. Imoke.

“I may not be able to show my support publicly like you already know sir, otherwise my relationship with governor Wike will be jeopardized, but you can be sure I will continue to work behind the scene” Sen. Onor was reported to have told former governor Liyel Imoke emphatically stating that he needed home support to win elections which wike can't provide.

This is not the first time the faction of PDP in Cross River State who are loyal to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has been reported to have made political overtures to the Liyel Imoke who leads the PDP faction loyal to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

On the eve of the PDP presidential rally in Calabar, Barr. Venatius Ikem, PDP state chairman and a loyalist of Governor Wike was reported to have been chased out of the residence of former governor Imoke after Mr. Ikem went there to ask for demobilisation funds meant for the People he discreetly mobilised from the Northern part of the State for the support of Atiku's visit. He was reportedly dragged outside the gate of the former governor after he resisted all pleas to leave a stakeholders meeting put up to plan for the reception of Alhaji Atiku in the state.

Nyesom Wike who has sworn not to support his party’s presidential candidate is rumoured to have warned all his loyalists across the country including the PDP guber candidate in the state, Sen.

Sandy Onor not to support the Candidacy of Atiku as it negates zoning.

In compliance with the directives of his benefactor, Mr. Onor has continued to ignore brazenly all political activities of the presidential candidate including his conspicuous absence from the party’s presidential rally yesterday at the U.J Esuene stadium in Calabar.
