Delta Task Force Member Allegedly Strangles Keke Rider in Sapele Over Levy Dispute

A Keke rider in Sapele, Augustine Williams, was allegedly strangled by a member of the Delta State Revenue Task Force team, known as Tunde or Osama, during a dispute over ticket levy.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the Awolowo area when Tunde flagged down Augustine's tricycle to demand the daily revenue levy.

An argument ensued, leading to a physical altercation where Augustine grabbed Tunde's hand in defense. Witnesses reported that Tunde then allegedly strangled Augustine, causing him to collapse.

Despite efforts to revive him, Augustine was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The incident has sparked outrage among onlookers, with fellow Keke drivers citing daily harassment and extortion by the revenue task force.

The tension led to a planned protest by angry riders, which was halted by police intervention. Ese Agbamitor, another tricycle rider, voiced frustration over the alleged actions of the revenue team enforcers, describing the environment as unbearable.
