The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has received the newly elected representatives of the Postgraduate Students’ Union Government of the Institute today.
The VC who congratulated the students leaders for their victory at the poll noted that Leadership is all about sacrifice and inclusiveness regardless of different interests prior to the election hence, encouraging all to be carried along after the election.
Reinstating her commitment to setting global standards, Prof. Obi stated that Postgraduate programmes in the University of Calabar has been strategically built to attract students across the globe who are desirous of quality education. Obi also informed that as a result of their commitment to standard of education, the Dean of Postgraduate, Prof. Eyong Ubana is currently out of the shores of the country to checkmate the activities of foreign affiliate Institutions.
Obi who lamented the low number of foreign students in the institution admonished the students leaders to emulate best leadership strategies and shun all shot practices that may undermine the university’s global status.
In their reactions, the Students President and Vice President, Comrades Obidience Akama Abeng and Gift Obonyaknno reaffirmed their gratitudes to the VC for setting and maintaining standard without interference in the students election.
Present was the Senate President of the Postgraduate Students’ Union Government, Senator Valentine Owan other members of the Parliament and Executive.
