Calabar, May 11, 2025 — The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin, has reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to professional policing standards, warning officers against any form of misconduct or abuse of power.
In a strategic engagement session held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar, CP Eyitayo addressed over 200 personnel drawn from various tactical teams, including the Rapid Response Squad, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Anti-Cultism Squad, Operation Sting, and the Crack Team, among others.
During the lecture, CP Eyitayo stressed the importance of ethical policing and professional conduct, urging officers to maintain integrity and discipline in the discharge of their duties. He specifically cautioned against extortion, illegal detentions, unauthorized searches of mobile phones, and any violation of citizens' rights.
The Police Commissioner also reminded officers of the Nigeria Police Force’s guidelines on social media usage, urging them to act responsibly online to protect the image and credibility of the Force.
“Under my leadership, we will not condone misconduct or any act that undermines public trust,” CP Eyitayo stated firmly. “Officers found guilty of unprofessional behavior will face appropriate disciplinary measures.”
He emphasized that policing must be seen as a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community, adding that maintaining public safety requires mutual respect and cooperation.
The engagement session is part of ongoing efforts by the Cross River State Command to enhance operational discipline and ensure accountability among officers, especially those in tactical units often engaged in high-pressure assignments.
The public is encouraged to report any unprofessional conduct and to support the police in building a safer Cross River State.
