Calabar | 4th August, 2025 – The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, PSC, mnips, has formally decorated 46 officers newly promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The decoration ceremony took place on Monday, 4th August, at the Command Headquarters in Calabar, and was witnessed by members of the Command’s Management Team, as well as families and loved ones of the promoted officers.
The promotions were approved by the Police Service Commission (POLSCOM) following recommendations from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D. The advancement marks a significant step forward in the careers of the affected officers.
While decorating the new ASPs, CP Afegbua congratulated them and encouraged each officer to stay professional and uphold the values of the Nigeria Police Force.
“This promotion is a call to higher responsibility. I urge you all to remain committed, uphold integrity, and serve the public with honour,” CP Afegbua said during his address.
On behalf of the newly decorated officers, ASP Emeng John expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, crediting God, the IGP, the Police Service Commission, and the Cross River CP for the opportunity.
“We are deeply grateful for this honour. We pledge to remain disciplined, committed to duty, and maintain the highest ethical standards in the discharge of our duties,” he stated.
The event reflected the spirit of service and dedication that the police command continues to uphold across the state.
