Osun Police Arrest Two Suspects in Iwo Biker’s Murder

Police Officer

September 2, 2025The Osun State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the gruesome killing of a commercial motorcyclist in Iwo. Police say 27-year-old Segun Olatunji was lured from his usual route, stabbed in the neck, and his throat slit before his attackers tried to sell his bike in neighbouring Ogun State.

In a statement on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, identified the suspects as Habeeb Adedayo and Akeem Fawas. Officers tracked the pair to Ibafo, Ogun State, where they were attempting to offload Olatunji’s motorcycle.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to posing as farmers,” Ojelabi said. “They offered Segun ₦5,000 to ride them from Odo-Ori in Iwo to a farm along Olupon. Once they reached a secluded spot, Habeeb Adedayo stabbed him in the neck, dragged him from the bike, and slit his throat.”

Both men admitted their crime and revealed that Adedayo had a history of robbery across Ori-Eru, Agbowo, and Ebu Alare districts in Iwo. Police recovered the victim’s motorcycle and a blood-stained knife as evidence.

In a separate operation on August 29, officers from the Prompt Response Unit intercepted a golden Toyota Camry (registration JZ 756 ABC) at Unity Junction, Ikire. The driver fled on foot when asked to present ownership documents. Investigators later learned the vehicle had been stolen at midnight in Owode-Ede, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspect.

The double arrest in Ibafo and the swift recovery of a stolen car highlight the command’s intensified efforts to clamp down on violent crime and vehicle theft in Osun State. Police have urged motorists and commercial riders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest station.
