WASHINGTONThe United States has unveiled a sweeping new visa restriction policy designed to block foreign operatives associated with far-left terrorist organisations and their affiliates from entering the country.

Announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the security measures aim to disrupt international networks that use coordinated violence and intimidation to destabilise democratic systems.

According to state officials, these extremist factions rely on sophisticated, highly organised networks to execute bombings, assassinations, and campaigns of terror. Washington contends that such acts of violence are deliberately calculated to silence political opposition, manipulate policy decisions, sabotage economic infrastructure, and erode the foundations of free societies.

The newly established directive targets foreign nationals who have supported, financed, or incited acts of terrorism, as well as those involved in violent criminal enterprise or economic sabotage. The restrictions will also apply to individuals who recruit for, or provide logistical and financial aid to, these far-left organisations, or who help coordinate meetings to facilitate violent actions.

"This policy will safeguard the American homeland by restricting entry of foreign nationals who finance, recruit, incite, or otherwise enable violent and criminal networks," the State Department said in a statement. Officials added that the move is designed to close administrative loopholes and visa pathways that these groups have previously exploited to threaten American lives and coordinate hostile actions on US soil.

The diplomatic sanctions are being enacted under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the US Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows the government to bar individuals whose entry could trigger serious adverse foreign policy consequences.

The policy aligns with wider, ongoing American security directives—specifically National Security Presidential Memorandum-7—which focus on dismantling networks that instigate political violence before their activities escalate into active criminal operations.
