Authorities in Katsina State have taken a 27-year-old man, identified as Sada Tambai, into custody following the alleged killing of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, located within Bindawa Local Government Area.
Incident and Police Intervention
The event occurred on September 21, 2026, when the victim, a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying unconscious in front of his home.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Katsina State Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. According to the police spokesperson:
The Bindawa Police Division was alerted around midday by the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, who reported that the elderly man was motionless outside his residence.
Detectives responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby medical facility, where an attending doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
Investigation and Confession
Preliminary investigative efforts by the command resulted in the arrest of the deceased's son, Sada Tambai. During police questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, inflicting severe injuries that led to his death.
Legal Proceedings and Official Response
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar-Fage, ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to facilitate a detailed and discreet investigation.
The police command stated that the suspect will face court prosecution upon the completion of the SCID investigation, while extending condolences to the victim's family and assuring the public that justice will be pursued in accordance with the law.
