Clan Heads Disown Ayade's Adviser, Oscar Ofuka Over Disputed Cocoa Estate.

As the controvesy surrounding the real ownership of the Cocoa estate in Abonita community continues to persist, some Clan heads in Etung LGA have withdrawn their support for the special adviser on Cocoa development, Dr. Oscar Ofuka, alledging that they were coarced to make controversial statements against the Ogar Assam family and the earlier position of the Cross River State government on the land in diapute.

The Clan heads made their position known in a disclaimer they signed and dated 12th February, 2021 in Calabar.  Among those who signed the letter were; HRH, Anthony Ntui Etta, Clan hear of Ajassor, HRH Richard Mango Atah, Clan head of Effraya, HRH David Ojong Agbor, Clan head of Ekimaya among others.

They alleged that they were coarced to make statements against the original owners of the Abonita Cocoa estate in Etung and therefore denounced their earlier position on that matter. While maintaining that they stand by the position of the state government which earlier returned the land to the Ogar Assam family, who are the original owners of the land.

It would be recalled the family of late Ogar Assam had accused governor Ayade's aide on Cocoa development, Oscar Ofuka of attempting to use his office to disposses them of their land. The governor's aide was also accused using thugs to kidnap some family members of Late. Ogar Assam until they were rescued by the police.

Although the matter is being investigated at the zonal police headquarters, Zone 6 in Calabar. Mr. Ofuka was rumoured to have cajoled the Clan heads to carryout several actions against the Ogar Assam family, including instituting a legal action against the and making statements that suggest that they were not the original owners of the land.

Sources familiar with the matter say, after several investigations, Mr. Ofuka was arrested and driven to force headquarters in Abuja. For days, calls made to the known mobile number of the governor's aide was unreachable, suggesting that he may have been under police detention.
