Former minister for Niger Delta affairs, Usani Usani has congratulated Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River State, over his defection from the People's Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
A congratulatory message sent to journalists and signed by the former minister says, "Beyond my message of congratulations which was coveyed through GSM text. I hereby express my message of welcome from your erstwhile political affiliation to the All Progressives Congress (APC)"
He said although the state has been governed by the same political party from the inception of the current political dispensation, it was refreshing to realise that Cross River State was now an APC controlled state.
Mr. Usani also said he was ready to accord Gov. Ayade all necessary support as the new leader of the party in the state.
"as you perform your role in leading the state and the party apparatus, we have the duty to offer you the outmost possible assistance, with committed conscience for your good to be better and your better best"
As preparation for the 2023 general elections draws near, many political analyst in the state believe that with the reconciliation of all factions within the APC, the future of the party looks bright as they get ready to dislodge the People's Democratic Party after over two decades of political dominance in the state.
