Ayade's programme of "Feed the Widows" exercise records huge success across the 18 LGAs of Cross River


The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare Services, Hon. Blessing Egbara, has reassured that the overall welfare of the vulnerable citizens of Cross River State will always be given a top priority by the state Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade.


Hon. Egbara gave the assurance recently while carrying out the just concluded operation Feed the Widows exercise in Obudu, Yala, Biase, Ogoja, Ikom, Odukpani, Obubra and other LGAs in the state in which hundreds of Widows assisted with cartons of food stuff and other items.


The feeding exercise for the Widows Program was led by the Hon. Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Honorable Mrs Blessing Egbara along side the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services Mrs Davina Ojie and team of Humanitarian workers who travelled to the various locations to distribute the items to the beneficiaries.


His Excellency Senator Prof Benedict Ayade has once again put smiles on the faces of Widows in the state as hundreds of widows in Obudu, Yala, Benefit from the just concluded feeding program for Widows,


Mrs Egbara stated that the opportunity given her by His Excellency the governor to serve Cross Riverians and humanity has opened her eyes to a lot of challenges people face in the society. 


She disclosed that the feed the Widows  exercise has again shown Cross Riverians that the governor will stop at nothing to ensure that the  Vulnerable in the state will always be giving the top priority in his administration. 


"His Excellency has mandated that we reach out to the Widows and that is why we are here today, He has in his wisdom seen and heard the cry of the widows and have decided to send these carton which contains food items to them with a message of hope that many more good things shall come down to them soon. 


This gesture is to let the widows know that they are not forgotten and His Excellency Senator Prof Benedict Ayade will always look out for ways to  step in and assist the widows in the state, " the Commissioner maintained. 


Reacting to the Visit by the Honorable Commissioner and her Team, one of the beneficiaries Mrs. Lydia Etta expressed profound gratitude on behalf of other vulnerable persons and beneficiaries to the Governor for stepping in and playing the role of Husband to them all, adding that the gesture by His Excellency means a lot to them. 


"Honestly l am very happy, you can see by the smiles on my face, it means the Governor thinks about our welfare, I am confident that Governor Ayade by the grace of God will always take care of us. I pray that God Almighty will continue to give him the wisdom, the Grace and the Capacity to guide and provide for us. Its not easy for Widows, especially we that our husbands died and left us with children and no source of livelihood.


The exercise which is one of many Humanitarian Exercises by the state Government to reach out to the Vulnerable in the state, has recorded huge success as hundreds of widows across the LGAs rejoice as they benefit from the food program.
