INEC Inter-Agency Security Committee Meeting Holds In Calabar As Physical Voter Registration Begins

 


Cross River State inter-agency committee on election security have met today in Calabar. In attendance at the meeting were all serving security heads in Cross River State, which also includes the para-military organisations.

While assuring the public of maximum security during the process, the resident electoral commissioner, Dr Emmanuel Hart and the state Police Commissioner, CP Sikiru Akande stated that the exercise will be carried out in all local government head offices across the 18 Local Government Areas in the state as well as the INEC headquarters in Calabar.


According to the REC, the meeting was important as the electoral body gets set to commence In-Person registration across the state from Monday, 25, July 2021.


He also reiterated that to help the Commission prepare for the 2023 elections, the continuous voter registration will terminate in the third quarter of 2022, adding that the exercise was free.

He also called on Cross Riverians to see the exercise as their civic responsibility and ensure they come out for the process.


“in Cross River State, the physical registration will be carried out in the state office and the 18 LGA offices from Monday to Friday except for public holidays. The hours of registration will be from 9 am to 3 pm,” he said.


He further added that the Commission hopes to extend the physical registration in local government areas if the security situation improves.
