Consumers in Cross River state are faced with difficult times as the price of liquefied petroleum gas, LPG otherwise known as cooking gas has risen by over 33% month on month from N400 per kg in July to N600 per kg in August.

Investigations by our correspondent show that a 12.5kg cylinder which was sold in Cross River State for six thousand naira (6000) in June and July is now selling for Seven thousand naira (7200) at different parts of the state.

Consumers who spoke bore their mind to our sources said that it has become difficult for them to refill their cooking gas due to the increase in price.

Recall that the government had in 2019 gazettes the removal of VAT on LPG as a product to increase its domestic utilization. However, the reintroduction of the policy in January 2021 has further increased the price of cooking gas in Cross River State and the country at large.
