Dr Betta Edu Lauds Senator Gershom Bassey For Equipping Atan Eki Primary Healthcare Center In Odukpani



Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency on the 6th of January, 2017 lauded Senator Gershom Bassey for his magnanimous effort in ensuring members of his constituency from Atan Eki, Odukpani have access to quality healthcare delivery by donating medical equipment, Generator and a Motor Cycle to convey sick people from community to the facility and take health services like immunisation to hard to reach areas in the community.


Delivering the items, Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey noted that healthcare remain a very important factor in the society as it forms greater part of welfarism.


According to him people of Southern Cross River State Senatorial District deserved quality and affordable healthcare and as such this initiative was born out of his desire to bring quality healthcare closer to the people he was elected to serve. by donating the medical equipments and motorcycle to help convey critical sick persons to the facility more people will be reached.


He said this feat will be duplicated across the 7 Local Government Areas that made up the Southern Senatorial District.


Speaking, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong expressed her sincere gratitude to the people Senator by calling on other representatives to follow suit and make their contribution towards ensuring that people at the grassroots have access to quality and affordable healthcare across the State.





Earlier Speaking, Dr Betta Edu commended Senator Gershom Bassey for revitalizing Atan Eki Primary Healthcare Center with equipment and other consumables.


She pleaded for others to follow by noting that health is wealth as sick men and women don't vote. Give them something more reliable than sharing bag of rice. Which is taking care of their health care.


The DG who was full of praise for the senator urged the Atan Eki people to make use of the facility and stop patronizing traditional birth attendants.


Also Speaking, the Village Head of Atan Eki, Obo Okon Obo said the entire village is very happy with the intervention of the Senator. He said the medical equipment will go along way to close the existing gap in the facility.



He concluded by saying the entire Atan Eki will make use of the facility and continue to support their own come 2019.


Medical equipment donated includes HOSPITAL BED AND MATTRESS, BED SHEETS, Ward screen, chairs, buckets, mops, weight scale, office tools, babycots, rechargeable lights, generator set and motorcycles amongst other medical consumables.
