The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has denied reports that he has bought aircraft to support a campaign for him to contest the presidency in 2023.
On Wednesday, reports surfaced online indicating that the CBN governor had bought “three airplanes” for his birthday presidential campaign and that he had also been asked to resign from his position.

The CBN governor, however, on his newly opened verified Twitter handle @GodwinIEmefiele, denied the claim, stating that it is a piece of fake and fabricated news.
'Fake news,’ ‘Fabricated’ he tweeted in response to the report.
The development comes days after the CBN governor spoke on the calls for him to contest the presidency in 2023.
