Zipline Drones Distribution Centre in Ogoja To Kick-start, Dr Linda Ayade Performs Ground-Breaking

Zipline technology was introduced in Rwanda 6yrs ago to see how Blood products can be carried to the interior and hard to reach villages/areas to safe lives, today over 2,000 health facilities in Ghana gets medical commodities through Zipline Drones. In a bid to revamp the health sector of the State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has again brought another innovation as Zipline Drones will within a matter of Months begin to fly drugs and other commodities across the State especially during emergencies.


With the ground breaking ceremony successfully done by Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade ably represented by the State's Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu, the structural component of the partnership is what will be accomplished in a couple of Months from now. Speaking on behalf of the first lady Dr. Linda Ayade, the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu thanked the innovative ideas of the State Governor Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade that has today brought Zipline technology to the State where drones will within minutes fly essential drugs, vaccines and blood products to Health facilities in various parts of the State.


"The innovative and digital ideas of Zipline technology which comes with the fastest, cost effective and convenient means of transporting drugs and health commodities across the State is a game changer. With over 426 hard to reach areas in the State, the challenge of sending drugs across will be fully addressed, lives will be saved, vaccines especially COVID19 Vaccines and other essentials will get to health facilities in a timely manner and in good potent form, they'll be job opportunities for our people as all staff employed there will be Cross Riverians amongst many other advantages that will come with this vision.


"As a State, we'll be the first in the entire South South to house a A 21st century digital Drone Logitic supply chain and this has been made possible by our amiable Governor Sen. Ben Ayade and his dear wife Dr. Linda Ayade. I call on the good people of Ndok Community in Ogoja LGA to give them maximum support bearing in mind the many advantages they stand to gain as they'll be the ones to fly those drones after gaining the needed training."





Dr Edu ended by thanking the Clan Head of the Community Ntol Clement Ashabe, his council of chiefs, men, women and the entire youths of Ndok community for making the land acquisition process seamless while calling for their support as well as that of every other health worker and partners so the building process can be speedily completed and commissioned as soon as possible.


In her welcome speech, the General Manager of Zipline Nigeria Miss Katherine Odiase expressed her happiness that the decision to bring Zipline to CRS has been realized and commended Governor Ben Ayade for keying into the Zipline Technology to save the lives of his people. "Today marks a major mile stone in the history of this State as Governor Ben Ayade, his dear wife Dr. Linda Ayade and the dynamic Health Commissioner, an Ambassador of Zipline in Nigeria Dr. Betta Edu has successfully brought Zipline technology to their State. I want to assure cross riverians that construction on this site begins almost immediately and hopefully before the first half of this year we'll witness the first Drone flight that will fly day and night, rain and shine carrying drugs and vaccines to every nook and cranny of this State especially during emergencies." She assured that cross riverians will be employed to work in the company.





The Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr. Janet Ekpenyong in her address thanked God Almighty for making today a reality as Governor Ben Ayade has again brought something great that our people truly needs and will be of great benefits to the entire health sector. "The essence of Zipline is to take drugs to our door steps in minutes and to ensure that we don't lack drugs and other health commodities in our facilities. This innovation will safe the lives of our pregnant women and children, bring employment opportunities to our youths as well as expand development. I thank our traditional rulers for accepting the presence of Zipline and I call on our youths to help support this project and also protect the equipments that will be used for this purpose.


Dr David Ushie the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health who spoke alongside the WHO representative Dr Mbabong and the USAID representative Mr Samuel Odey stated that Governor Ayade through his Health Commissioner Dr Betta Edu has gone out and scouted for a digital solution for the health sector and today we have Zipline technology in the State. He called on the youths of the host community Ndok to support and guide the entire activities of the company as they stand to benefit a lot if the company is completely built.


In a vote of thanks, the Clan Head of Ndok Community Ntol Clement Ashabe who spoke on behalf of the entire traditional rulers and his community commended the numerous achievements of Governor Ben Ayade thanking him for choosing his community to house such a laudable project as he assured His Excellency and Zipline of maximum support. "Our community is grateful to Sen. Ben Ayade for bringing this very important company to us, we'll support them, protect them and all their properties/equipments and our men, women and youths will take full part in the building process."


Highlights of the event was the site view, official ground breaking by Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade ably represented by the Health Commissioner Dr Betta Edu, and the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine to those who have not taken it. The Director of Public Health Dr Iwara Iwara, the PHC Director of Ogoja madam Bullam, Health workers, traditional rulers, youth leaders, men and women of Ndok community amongst other dignitaries were with the Health Commissioner during the event.
