English Referee Mike Dean To Retire From Officiating Games in the end of the season

Mike Dean

By Elijah Besong

Recent news surrounding the English sporting hemisphere reports that the renowned English Referee Mike Dean will retire from officiating games in the premier league at the end of the season.

The English referee who was expected to retire last season made a u-turn with several sporting outlets suggesting that the pandemic of 2020 was a major reason, as he had a personal resolve to end his blissful career with fans in the stadium, as against the close door matches that were enforced last season to curb the spread of the pandemic.

The 53-year-old who will have officiated for 22 seasons at the end of this season, and has crossed a milestone of over 500 matches will be greatly missed by the football game as he hangs his whistle at the end of the season.

Indeed, the end of an era.
