An unidentified man said to be an electoral agent of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State on Saturday asked voters to return back home if they are not willing to vote for the ruling party.
The incident allegedly happened at Fehintola Giwa Street in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos State.
The APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, hails from Lagos State. Also, Surulere Local Government Area is part of the constituency of House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In the past, the area has recorded pockets of electoral violence. The PUNCH had on January 28, 2023, reported that the convoy of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, aka Jandor, was attacked in the Coker area of Aguda in Surulere.
Some suspected hoodlums shot sporadically and destroyed some of the campaign vehicles in Adediran’s convoy during the attack while three persons were injured.
But in a video sighted by our correspondent on Saturday, the unidentified agent can be heard asking electorates who won’t for APC in the area to leave the polling unit and return home.
In the 28-second video clip, the male agent claimed that Surulere is for APC and that only people willing to cast their ballot for APC should step forward to vote.
“If you can’t vote APC here; go back to your house. Nobody forced you to come to the polling unit and you can go back home.
I will go and check (ballot papers) and if I see that you vote for another party, you’d enter wahala (trouble). You’re in APC territory. Please go and relax in your house if you’re not voting APC,” the man can be heard saying.
