Education sector leaders have set the minimum score for university admissions at 140.
This score, however, is not a universal cut-off mark for all universities, explained Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), during a policy meeting in Abuja.
The PUNCH reported that various universities had submitted their minimum benchmark scores to JAMB. For example, Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos, Covenant University in Ogun state, Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun state, and the University of Lagos recommended a minimum score of 200 or higher.
Prof. Oloyede emphasized that JAMB does not set cut-off marks but establishes a minimum benchmark score that no university can go below. Each university sets its own specific benchmark scores.
More details to follow.
