The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, expressed disappointment over the destruction of a new technology hub in Kano, which was looted and set on fire just days before its planned opening. The Digital Innovation Park, meant to support Nigeria’s technical talent accelerator program (3MTT), was attacked during protests on Thursday.
In a post on X, Tijani shared his sadness about the incident, noting that the park was supposed to host a program for secondary school students next week. He explained that the damage was a significant setback for efforts to develop the technology workforce and create job opportunities for young people.
Tijani lamented that "millions of naira" had been wasted due to the destruction, which also impacted the wider Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park. The loss is seen as a major hindrance to the country's technological and economic progress.
