21-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend to Death in Lagos

Lagos State Police have arrested a 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode, over the alleged fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, identified simply as Damilola, in the Ijegun area of Lagos.

According to reports, the incident occurred last Friday when Anegbode visited Damilola’s residence. An intense argument reportedly broke out between the two, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

Eyewitnesses said they heard loud shouting from the apartment before Anegbode allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim. A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We didn’t know what caused the fight. We just heard them yelling, and suddenly the woman started crying. When we got there, we found the man already dead.”

Another local resident confirmed that some neighbours rushed Damilola to the hospital in an attempt to save him, while others stopped Anegbode from fleeing. “When we got to the hospital, doctors said he was already dead. We later went to the police station to report the matter, and officers returned with us to arrest her,” the source explained.

Confirming the incident, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case was reported around 11:30 a.m. the same day.

“The victim was taken to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. Officers from the Igando Division arrested the suspect and began investigations,” Hundeyin stated.

He added that although the initial report was made at the Igando station, the case was later transferred to the Isheri Oshun Division, under whose jurisdiction the crime occurred.

Hundeyin revealed that a team of detectives visited the scene, recovered the blood-stained knife used in the attack, and documented evidence from the apartment. “The suspect gave a confessional statement under caution,” he said.

The police spokesperson added that the case will soon be transferred, along with the suspect and recovered evidence, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
