Cross River CP Bans Unauthorized Protests on Democracy Day, Assures Residents of Tight Security



Calabar, June 11, 2025 — The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Olusegun E. Omosanyin, PSC (+), fdc, has issued a directive banning all unauthorized processions, protests, and gatherings across the state ahead of the 2025 Democracy Day celebrations.

The move, according to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ugbo Irene, is aimed at preserving public peace, safety, and the spirit of national unity as the country marks the annual celebration.

To ensure a hitch-free event, the Commissioner has ordered the strategic deployment of police personnel across the state, covering public places, government infrastructure, recreational centers, and identified flashpoints. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Teams, and Intelligence Units are expected to work in coordination during the operations.

CP Omosanyin emphasized that while the deployment is intended to protect lives and property, all officers involved must carry out their duties with professionalism and respect for human rights.

He called on residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious, urging them to report any suspicious movements or activities that may threaten public order.
