Calabar, June 5, 2025 – The Cross River State Police Command has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful and residents of the state ahead of the 2025 Eid-El-Kabir celebration, while emphasizing its commitment to maintaining peace and order during the festivities.
In a press release issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanya, psc(+), fdc, the Command congratulated the Muslim community and urged citizens to celebrate peacefully and responsibly.
CP Omosanya assured the public that adequate security arrangements have been established across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration. He revealed that surveillance patrols and visibility policing will be intensified throughout the period to prevent any breach of peace.
“The Commissioner of Police enjoins all citizens residing in the state to go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation of any kind,” the statement read.
To strengthen the security structure, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders have been directed to take proactive steps in safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the celebration.
The Command also warned sternly against any individuals or groups attempting to cause disorder or disrupt public peace under any guise. CP Omosanya stressed that the police will not hesitate to take necessary action to prevent lawlessness.
The Commissioner further called on residents of Cross River State to continue supporting the efforts of the Police and other security agencies in promoting peaceful coexistence within the state and the country at large.
