ABUJA, 30 July 2025 — President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. The appointment will take effect from 14 August 2025.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement issued by Major General A.M. Jibril (retired), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the President.
According to the statement, the appointment comes ahead of the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will step down on 13 August after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Olumode has been described by the CDCFIB as an officer with “a wealth of experience.” He began his service with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he most recently held the position of Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.
The statement further highlighted Olumode's completion of all required in-service training and command courses, as well as other professional development programmes conducted both in Nigeria and abroad.
He is affiliated with several professional organisations, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
The Board expressed its gratitude to the outgoing Controller-General, describing his tenure as marked by “remarkable contributions” and applauding his “dedication and commitment to the service” and the “numerous initiatives he spearheaded.”
With the transition underway, Olumode is expected to lead the Fire Service into its next phase of development and reform.
