September 2, 2025 - The Cross River State Police Command has issued a firm directive against the unauthorized use of materials bearing the insignia of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), following growing concerns over misuse by private individuals and commercial drivers across the state.
In a statement released on September 1st, the Command expressed alarm at the increasing display of PCRC emblems, mufflers, flyers, and bannerets by persons not officially affiliated with the Committee. According to the Command, this trend not only distorts the image and purpose of the PCRC but also poses a risk to public trust, potentially enabling impersonation and abuse.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, PSC, mnips, did not mince words in his warning. He emphasized that only verified and authorized members of the PCRC are permitted to use its official materials, in accordance with established guidelines. He called on residents to immediately desist from further misuse, reiterating the Command’s commitment to upholding ethical standards and fostering genuine police-community collaboration.
To enforce this directive, the State Traffic Section and other relevant units have been tasked with identifying and penalizing violators. The Command made it clear that anyone found guilty of impersonation or misrepresentation will face legal consequences.
In closing, the Police urged the public to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace, order, and respect for due process throughout Cross River State.
