1 September 2025 – Calabar, Cross River State
The Cross River State Police Command has announced that police constable recruits from the 2024/2025 intake, currently undergoing training at the Police Training School (PTS) in Calabar, will commence their shooting range exercise this week.
The exercise is scheduled to run from Wednesday, 3 September through Sunday, 7 September 2025, beginning daily at 8:00am. The designated site for the range is Asabanka, located in the Anyanganse Community of Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
In light of this development, the Command is appealing to residents, farmers, and passersby in and around the area to refrain from any activity within the vicinity during the exercise period. This precaution is necessary to prevent accidental injuries, avoid exposure to loud gunfire, and minimize distress caused by the sound of live ammunition.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation,” said SP Irene Ugbo, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command.
The Command assures the public that all safety protocols are in place and encourages everyone to remain vigilant and supportive throughout the duration of the exercise.
