CIG Group, Owners of GAC Motors, Join Forces with Davido to Bring Afrobeats Home With The Five Alive City Tour

By Oluchi Omai

In a powerful fusion of rhythm and road, innovation and culture, one of Africa’s most celebrated Afrobeats icons, Davido, is bringing his music home in a way never seen before. The Five Alive City Tour, spanning Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Enugu, Ibadan, and Lagos, marks a historic moment: the first time a member of Afrobeats’ “Big Three” has embarked on a full-scale national tour not as a pit stop between international gigs, but as a deliberate, heartfelt celebration of Nigeria’s cities, its people, and its soul.

Driving this movement is CIG Motors Co., Ltd., the parent company behind GAC Motors Nigeria. This partnership transcends mere sponsorship; it’s a cultural convergence, where the pulse of music meets the precision of engineering, and where mobility becomes a metaphor for ambition, connection, and national pride.

“We believe in mobility that moves people and purpose,” said Chief Diana Chen, Chairman of CIG Group. “Davido represents a generation of Nigerians who are fearless, talented and globally respected. This partnership celebrates excellence, innovation and the beauty of motion.”

The collaboration is more than symbolic. It’s embodied in the vehicles that will carry Davido across the country: the luxurious GAC GN8, the commanding GS8, and the visionary electric vehicle, AionY. These aren’t just cars; they are statements of comfort, power, and forward-thinking design. The GN8, with its serene cabin and refined presence, mirrors the artistry and elegance Davido brings to every stage. The GS8, with its sharp lines and intelligent performance, speaks to the strength and confidence of a man who has taken Afrobeats from Lagos to London, New York, and beyond.

“Davido is the first of Nigeria’s Big Three to bring Afrobeats home at this scale,” said Jubril Arogundade, Executive Director of CIG Group. “This collaboration is creating history. It unites technology, culture and inspiration in a way that speaks directly to the heart of the Nigerian people.”

This isn’t CIG Group’s first brush with Nigerian culture. For years, GAC Motors has been a quiet but consistent supporter of creativity, sponsoring film premieres, supporting red-carpet events, and providing vehicles for music video shoots. Their presence has always been about more than transportation; it’s been about enabling expression, elevating talent, and celebrating the nation’s dynamic spirit.

That cultural bond reached a crescendo earlier this year during Davido’s wedding to Chioma Rowland. The moment GAC presented the luxury vehicle Davido gifted to his wife became an instant national memory—a symbol of love, success, and the art of living beautifully. It was more than a car; it was a statement of shared values, a testament to what can be achieved when business and culture walk hand-in-hand.

Now, that relationship has evolved into something even more profound: a nationwide campaign that promises not just concerts, but a mystery experience unfolding in each of the five cities. While details remain under wraps, insiders describe it as an emotional journey designed to connect deeply with Nigerians, reinforcing GAC’s belief that mobility is not only about moving from point A to B, but about moving communities, empowering dreams, and creating lasting memories.

“We are lovers of art, culture and music,” Chief Diana Chen added. “We believe in working with creators, supporting their vision and helping them reach new heights. Art and innovation must move together, and that is what this partnership stands for.”

GAC Motors’ range, from the opulent GN8 and GS8 to the futuristic AionY, embodies a clear message: the future of driving in Africa is both aspirational and sustainable. As the continent embraces innovation, GAC positions itself not just as a carmaker but as a partner in Nigeria’s creative and social evolution.

For Davido, this tour is a homecoming. After a decade of carrying Afrobeats to global stages, he now returns that energy to the roots, the streets, the fans, the cities that shaped him. With GAC Motors providing the wheels and infrastructure to make the tour possible, he proves that global success and national pride are not mutually exclusive; they can coexist.

This is more than a concert tour. It’s a declaration. A celebration. A movement. And it’s being driven by the rhythm of music and the engineering of progress.
