Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have dismantled an alleged illegal arms-fabricating workshop in Kore Village, located along Batsari Road in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, the command has confirmed.
The operation was carried out on Thursday morning, 26 February 2026, by the corps’ Special Rapid Response Squad following actionable intelligence that pointed to unlawful weapons production in the area.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NSCDC’s state public relations officer, Buhari Hamisu, explained that the team acted swiftly on instructions from the Commandant, Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, uncovering the makeshift factory and apprehending four suspects.
The suspects identified as Haruna Lawal (28), Badamasi Kabiru (50), Hamza Lawal (30) and Sagir Abba (25) were arrested inside the facility while allegedly involved in the fabrication of firearms.
Security personnel seized a range of weapons and related equipment at the scene, which are expected to form part of ongoing investigations. Authorities said the suspects will be thoroughly questioned to uncover any wider syndicate links and potential buyers.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to tackling the proliferation of illicit arms across the region, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support security efforts.
“We remain dedicated to promoting safety, security, and the protection of lives and property in Katsina State and across Nigeria,” the command said.
