A portion of a multi-storey building has collapsed in the Iyanaoloke district of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, authorities and residents reported on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m., when part of the structure suddenly gave way, leaving at least one construction worker buried under rubble while another reportedly escaped without injury.
Officials from the Ogun State Fire Service, alongside local residents and passers-by, are currently engaged in rescue efforts at the scene, attempting to locate and free the trapped worker.
A crowd of concerned residents has gathered around the affected site as emergency responders work to clear debris.
Police and emergency personnel have yet to release a detailed account of events or confirm the condition of the buried worker, as search and rescue operations continue.
