The management of Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City has expelled students captured in a viral video physically attacking a fellow pupil, following widespread outrage on social media.

The disturbing footage, which circulated widely online, shows two students repeatedly assaulting another student while he lay on the ground. In the clip, the attackers were seen kicking and beating the victim as other students present appeared to watch and record the incident.

Reacting to the incident, the school management confirmed that the students involved had been identified and subjected to disciplinary procedures in line with the institution’s rules.

In a statement, the school strongly condemned the act, describing it as unacceptable and inconsistent with the values of discipline, respect, and safety that the institution upholds.

After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident, the management announced the expulsion of the students responsible for the assault.

The school also reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on bullying, violence, and harassment among students, stressing that maintaining a safe learning environment remains a top priority.

Authorities added that the institution would continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure such incidents do not occur again while reinforcing behavioural standards among students.

The incident has sparked widespread public concern about bullying and student safety in schools, with many calling for stricter monitoring and stronger disciplinary measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
