...Cross River Delegation Engages Global Nursing Leaders at Maiden CNMF Conference in Abuja
Cross River State took a prominent position at the First Inaugural Conference of the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (CNMF), as key nursing leaders from the state joined global and national stakeholders at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The state’s delegation was led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, Dr Esu Coco-Bassey, who participated in high-level engagements with international and local nursing leaders during the conference.
The event, described as historic, brought together stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to deliberate on the future of nursing and midwifery practice, policy, and leadership.
During the conference, Dr Coco-Bassey held strategic interactions with the CNMF President, Professor Kathleen McCourt; the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Comrade Haruna Mamman; and the organisation’s National Financial Secretary, Dr Ojong Ogar.
Other members of the Cross River delegation included Prof Margaret Opia, Chairman of Chairmen, Cross River State Nursing Governing Board; Dr Christy Essien Ekpe, Chairman, College of Nursing Sciences, Calabar; Dr Joy Obetem, Provost, College of Nursing Sciences, Calabar; Mrs Roseline Obojor Ogar, Cross River State Director of Nursing Services; Mrs Courtesy Uduku, Director of Nursing Services, University of Calabar Teaching Hospital; and Comrade Josephine Bassey, NANNM Chairman, Cross River State, alongside her executive members.
Also in attendance were Comrade Olasunkanmi Blessing Aanuoluwapo, Vice President of the National Union of Nigerian Students Association (NUNSA), as well as other delegates and stakeholders from across the country.
Observers noted that Cross River’s strong representation at the conference underscores Governor Bassey Otu’s commitment to advancing nursing excellence and strengthening global health partnerships for the state.
