Truecaller, the global communication platform best known for its spam-blocking and caller-verification software, has officially entered the mobile data market with the international launch of a new travel eSIM service spanning 29 countries.
The rollout represents a significant strategic pivot for the Stockholm-based firm. By introducing digital mobile data consumables, Truecaller is expanding its core portfolio beyond traditional caller ID utilities into the competitive global connectivity sector.
With a global user base of over 500 million active customers, the company aims to address a common pain point for international travellers: steep roaming charges and the inconvenience of securing local SIM cards upon arrival.
Truecaller’s travel eSIM operates as a fully digital data service that can be activated within minutes. At launch, the platform is offering flexible data tiers ranging from entry-level 1 GB packages valid for seven days up to 20 GB allotments for 30-day trips.
The service is immediately available to purchases via Truecaller’s iOS application or directly through its official website. The web-based purchasing option ensures that users with compatible Android devices can also access the data plans from day one. Because the data coverage is structured globally, customers can buy their plans before departure and automatically connect to local networks upon landing.
Commenting on the launch, Fredrik Kjell, Chief Operating Officer at Truecaller, highlighted the company’s ability to leverage its existing brand equity to disrupt the travel tech space.
"I am delighted that Truecaller is launching an eSIM travel data product for our users," Kjell said. "Truecaller is a trusted communications brand worldwide, and with our scale, we can offer a great product at a competitive price. We are rolling this out on our iPhone app and the web channel, and look forward to expanding on our Android app and adding support for additional markets. Today marks the first step in offering adjacent communication products to our massive user base."
The travel eSIM service is immediately live across an initial cohort of 29 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, South Africa, Indonesia, Egypt, and Nigeria. The company plans to expand regional availability and integrate native Android app support in subsequent phases.
