The Lagos State Government has ordered the demolition of structurally defective buildings following the collapse of a property in the state.

Authorities said the decision was taken as part of efforts to prevent further tragedies and improve public safety. Officials inspected the affected area and identified buildings considered unsafe or unfit for habitation.

The government stated that owners of the marked structures would be required to comply with demolition directives, stressing that the safety of residents remains a top priority.

Officials also warned property developers and building owners against ignoring construction regulations, noting that enforcement measures would be strengthened to address violations.

The move comes in the wake of the recent building collapse, which renewed concerns over structural integrity, compliance with planning approvals, and the need for stricter monitoring of construction activities across Lagos.

Authorities urged residents to report signs of structural distress in buildings and assured the public that further inspections would continue in vulnerable areas.
