Akwa Ibom State Government hosts the Agriculture Team of OCP Africa.

 


Akwa Ibom State Government yesterday , hosted the Agricultural Desk of OCP Africa who are in the State to have on- the-spot-assessment of the agricultural sector of the State, as well as potentials and possible areas of partnership and collaboration.


This was made known by the State Governor, His Excellency, the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel represented by  Secretary to the State Government, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem during a cocktail party held in honour of the visiting OCP Africa team led Mr. Caleb Usoh.


The event took place at the conference room of Signature by Royalty Hotels, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo on Sunday, April 18, 2021.


Part of the State Government delegation were the Hon Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet, Hon Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, who also doubles as the Executive Director, Directorate of Agricultural Investments,  AKICORP, Chairman, Technical Committee on Agriculture and Food Sufficiency, Prof. Edet Udoh, Chairman, Technical Committee on Foreign Direct Investment, Mr. Gabriel Ukpeh, the Vice Chancellor, Akwa Ibom State University represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Umoren Umoren and Dr. Edna Akpan, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Marketing and Brand Management , Mr. Ime Uwah, and Special Assistant to the Governor, on Entrepreneurial Development, Mrs. Meflyn Anwana.







The team is expected to hold a technical session featuring presentation of the achievements of the Governor in the agricultural sector, activities of OCP Africa in Agriculture,  inspection of some public and private agricultural projects, plantations and farms in the State.


You will recall that recently, His Excellency, the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel expressed optimism that the commencement of the$1.4b fertilizer plant project in Akwa Ibom State by OCP Africa, will have a positive impact on Agricultural production and as well create a viable economic environment in the State.
