Goods worth millions of naira destroyed as fire razes shops in Lagos

Shops under the Apongbon section of the Eko Bridge in Lagos has been gutted by fire on Wednesday.

The fire outbreak led to gridlock and bottleneck on the commercial activities around the Lagos Island area of the state.

Although the cause of the fire outbreak could not be verified at the time of filing this report, it was gathered from sources that goods worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire outbreak.

A tweet by the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency revealed that traffic from Eko Bridge has been re-routed to Eburte-Ero to link the inner marina. The twit also added that the CMS bridge and Eko bridge inward/outward Apongbon is close to traffic at the moment.

“Traffic from Eko bridge has been re-routed to Ebute-Ero to link inner marina. Men of fire service and other security agencies are still on the ground. Therefore, CMS bridge and Eko bridge inward/outward Apongbon is close to traffic at the moment,” Lagos State Traffic Management Agency tweeted.

Recall that there have been a lot of fire outbreaks recently in the Lagos state. Hence, the need for residents to be educated on preventive measures to avoid further occurrences.
