Cross River Police Command Welcomes New Commissioner Rashid Afegbua

CALABAR, Nigeria, July 7, 2025The Cross River State Police Command has formally received its newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, PSC, mnips, who assumed duty on Monday at the Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar.

CP Afegbua arrived at the headquarters at exactly 1000 hours, where he received the traditional inspection of the Sentry Guard before proceeding to the Commissioner’s office. He was warmly received by the outgoing Commissioner of Police, CP Olusegun E. Omosanyin, PSC (+), fdc.

The formal handover ceremony was followed by a joint session at the Conference Hall. During the session, CP Omosanyin addressed senior officers, delivering a farewell message in which he commended their dedication throughout his tenure.

CP Rashid B. Afegbua becomes the 48th Commissioner of Police to serve the Cross River State Command. He holds a B.Sc (Ed) in Economics from the former Bendel State University, Ekpoma; an LLB (Hons) from the University of Calabar; and a BL from the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja.

Born on August 22, 1968, into the Afegbua royal family of Okpella in Edo State, CP Afegbua was appointed as a Cadet ASP in 1992 into the Nigeria Police Force after completing his National Youth Service in Cross River State.
