From the quiet community of Utugwang in Obudu Local Government Area, Cross River State, emerges a young scholar whose academic brilliance and leadership journey have been nothing short of remarkable. Peter Ube, a committed student and community leader, has built an impressive record of achievement that reflects both intellectual depth and an enduring passion for service.
Currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Calabar, Peter holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry with Second Class Upper Division and an M.Sc. in Nutritional Biochemistry. His academic progress is matched by his entrepreneurial flair as an industrialist, producing household items including perfumes, body sprays, hair creams, body jellies, room air fresheners, and toilet cleaners.
A Lifelong Record of Leadership
Peter’s leadership path began early, serving as class monitor throughout primary school while maintaining top academic honours. In secondary school, he was class representative, school regulator, and later senior boy prefect, consistently finishing top of his class.
At UNICROSS, he took on multiple leadership roles, including:
Director of Information, Chemical Science Students Association
Director of Information, Student Union Government
Freshers’ Coordinator
Assistant General Secretary and General Secretary, CASOR Fellowship
President, CASOR Fellowship
Beyond campus, Peter’s influence extended into faith-based and youth organisations. He served as General Secretary of the Youth Department in Assemblies of God Ekeya Eneobong Section, former General Secretary of Assemblies of God Kakuri Kaduna youth arm, Chief of Staff to the President of the PGSG UNICROSS, Electoral Board Chairman of PGSG UNICROSS, Zonal Coordinator of the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF) in Izzi LGA, Ebonyi State, and Administrator of Alice’s Dominion Model School, Calabar. He is currently President and Vice President of the Youth Department AG Eneobong Section, Calabar South District, and Coordinator of CASOR Senior Friends Forum, Calabar.
Author and Public Speaker
Peter has authored four books, most notably The Seven Indices of Life, alongside numerous articles in the public domain. As a public speaker and inspirational writer, he has consistently encouraged others to strive for excellence and personal growth.
A Vision for the Future
Now aspiring to lead as President of the Postgraduate Students Government (PGSG) UNICROSS, Peter has set out a clear vision: “To contribute to the growth and development of PGSG UNICROSS, through synergy and strategy with relevant authorities while welcoming the chance to learn, relearn, and unlearn from the system.”
He is calling on colleagues and stakeholders to support this mission, confident that together, they can shape a stronger postgraduate community.
