The United States has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary on 1 October 2025.
In a press statement released by the U.S. Department of State, Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Nigeria’s resilience and leadership over the past six decades. He described the West African nation as a beacon of strength and progress, noting the importance of the longstanding partnership between the countries.
“The United States values our enduring relationship with Nigeria,” Rubio stated, “a bond built on shared democratic ideals, expanding commercial ties, and a mutual commitment to peace and security.”
The statement also highlighted the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of the Nigerian people, acknowledging their determination and contributions both at home and abroad. Secretary Rubio expressed optimism about the future of U.S.–Nigeria relations, pledging continued collaboration in pursuit of shared goals.
