Nigeria’s Senate has pledged to collaborate closely with the Executive to ensure the timely passage and effective implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, the upper chamber said on Monday.
Speaking at a public hearing and interactive session on the budget organised by the Senate Committee on Appropriations in Abuja, Senate President Godswill Akpabio affirmed the legislature’s commitment to its constitutional duties of oversight, accountability and legislative support.
Akpabio said the Senate was determined to work with all stakeholders to see the 2026 budget passed on schedule and carried out with measurable results that would benefit Nigerians. He emphasised the chamber’s role in stabilising the economy, enhancing productivity and improving security and welfare across the country.
The session provided a forum for stakeholders to engage with lawmakers and contribute to deliberations ahead of the Senate’s detailed examination of the government’s fiscal plan for the coming year.
