Obudu, Cross River State – 21 July 2025
The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a prime suspect involved in the brutal murder of a commercial driver, Agage Ternenge, an incident which recently went viral on social media.
According to the police, the crime took place on Friday, 18 July 2025, amid a long-standing land dispute between Vandeikya in Benue State and Obudu Local Government in Cross River State. The victim, a native of Mbanyam in Mbatyough Council Ward, Vandeikya LGA, was attacked and stoned to death in Obudu while delivering a waybill.
The disturbing attack, captured on video, has sparked widespread outrage online due to its graphic nature and the apparent impunity of the perpetrators.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, PSC, mnips, condemned the incident, calling it a severe violation of human rights and personal dignity. He extended condolences to the victim's family and urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding as investigations continue.
In response to the Commissioner's directive, the Divisional Police Officer in Obudu initiated a swift operation, resulting in the arrest of a suspect, 35-year-old Adeshina Gilbert from Abonkib, Obudu Urban. The suspect is currently in police custody.
The Command has reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved in the crime and ensure justice is served.

that's a barbaric act OK I ask them killing him without investigating him either he's from vandekya or not it not good Tiv is a nation and obudu is just one local government in cross river so once there having issues with the Tiv now somebody from Gboko who is not from vandekya but since he speak Tiv the will just be doing that to him I wish the Tiv people to also revenge
